About Playscape LLC

Playscape LLC is a 100% women-owned Minnesota company I founded to bring TreadBeyond™ to the people who need it. It is deliberately a licensing-first company—Playscape develops and protects the intellectual property, a growing patent portfolio, with its foundational designs based on the real world  clinical observations and the lived experiences of users (children, ages 3-7, with different mobility challenges) trialing the proof-of-concept prototype during field testing across two seasons:  Winter 2026—testing over snow and ice surfaces:  users demonstrated immediate positive outcomes consistently—each child was able to independently walk across snow and ice conditions for the first time in their life using the prototype where previously they had been unable to do so;  Spring 2026—testing over sand, grass, mulch and hard-surface transitions—mulch to/from sidewalk; user’s outcomes provided additional insights to help further shape and improve the platform’s design. 

Being able to partner with an established company to help produce, distribute, and scale the platform, allows the mission of Playscape to be achieved—to get TreadBeyond™ as quickly as possible to the people who have been waiting for a product like this because they are ready to explore and enjoy the outdoors just like everyone else.   TreadBeyond™ is uniquely positioned to be sold across two markets at once that rarely overlap—the durable medical equipment and outdoor recreation markets, serving both the individual consumer and institutional buyers (e.g., school districts, federal/state/local parks departments, camps, community centers, senior communities, adaptive sports programs, hospitals, outpatient clinics, etc.) that already invest in adaptive equipment for the people they serve.

The company is guided by an advisory team spanning healthcare strategy, finance, law, assistive technology, and — most importantly — the lived experience of individuals and families who use mobility equipment every day. In May 2026, TreadBeyond™ won the Walleye Tank Junior Division, Minnesota's premier life-science pitch competition organized by the University of Minnesota Venture Center and Mayo Clinic Office of Entrepreneurship.

The case for universally designed accessible products is significant—more than 1.3 billion people worldwide who live with a disability, representing trillions of dollars in potential spending power; however, most companies still approach accessibility as a specialized accessory rather than an opportunity to innovate.
